Officers stated they were contacted by a individual who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.

A senior official stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
